AGV batteries must support high-rate discharge, long cycle life, wide temperature tolerance, reliable BMS performance, and safe operation. LFP and LTO are the main lithium battery chemistries used for industrial AGVs, while AGM lead-acid remains an option for some low-cost retrofit applications.
LFP is widely used for general indoor AGVs with moderate power demands and scheduled charging. LTO is better suited to frequent start-stop operation, fast charging, 24/7 production, low-temperature environments, and applications requiring long cycle life. AGM can serve budget-sensitive retrofits where fast charging is not necessary and maintenance access is available.
NMC batteries are less commonly adopted for standard industrial AGVs because of their thermal safety considerations. The table below compares AGM, LFP, and LTO across key specifications and application requirements.
